2017: The Year of the Cruise
Two people in Pillar Financial Group took time off to cruise this year. Avi Curry cruised from Long Beach, CA to Catalina Island and Ensenada with her husband, Westen, in May; and in September, she cruised from Vancouver, BC to Hawaii with her friend Tessa. Michelle Lasko and her family took an eight day Caribbean cruise in August, visiting the islands just about a month before they were hit by hurricanes. Last year, Todd and Gerrilynn Lindley took a cruise down the Danube River in Europe, and next year Ashley Powell and her husband will be cruising in Europe too.
Six of our seven financial planners travelled to San Diego, home of Commonwealth's west coast office, on October 10th to attend Commonwealth's 2017 four day national meeting. San Diego is always a great place to visit! They had over 100 educational sessions to choose from, and enjoyed relaxing together in their free time. The meeting included:
Keynote sessions speakers:
- Madeleine Albright, former Secretary of State
- Platon Antoniou, photographer
- Ken Blanchard, author and leadership expert
Presentations by key Commonwealth executives:
- Brad McMillan, Chief Investment Officer
- Wayne Bloom, CEO
- John Rooney, Managing Principal, San Diego Office
- Joni Youngwirth, Managing Principal, Practice Management
2017: The Year of the New Home
2017 has been a year of change! Five people in Pillar Financial Group have moved or are in the process of moving. Todd and Gerrilynn Lindley purchased a new home in Olympia. Zale Crawford is in the process of building a new home in Olympia. Kathleen O'Connor is in the process of moving to a new home in Vancouver.
3rd Annual Investment Symposium
Staying current is critical to bring the best ideas and solutions to our clients. Financial Planners from Pillar Financial Group and Mainspring Wealth Advisors joined for a two-day investment symposium on July 10th and July 11th, held at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, Washington, featuring presentations with up-to-the-minute information about our industry.
Alaska Women's Gold Nugget Triathloon
Two of our very own advisors, Kathleen and Avi, struck out on a trek of their own to collect their own gold (finisher's medals) on May 21, 2017. They entered the Gold Nugget Triathlon and swam 500 yards, biked 12 miles and ran 4.1 miles to the finish line. Way to go ladies!
